My experience with an auria eq27w was that I needed to exchange the monitor because of severe backlight bleed. The replacement monitor I got is excellent. If the technology on the YamasKasi is the same there is a second level market for panels that were rejected. Don't buy it if an exchange is not simple and cheap. If you buy test it right away.

I really think it depends on what you use your monitor for and what your priorities are.

I have a dual setup and for gaming I use a 27 inch 120Hz BenQ 1080p monitor with lightboost. (BenQ XL2720T) The smooth blur-free image you get trumps any other deficiencies that TN panels may have.

For everything else I use my Dell U2713HM - IPS is great for photos, etc, but the amount of smearing you get makes it very unpleasant for gaming.

I am very tempted by the new Asus ROG

http://rog.asus.com/296652014/news/rog-announces-the-pg278q-swift-27-inch-wqhd-g-sync-gaming-monitor/

The only problem is I don't really need it, I am quite happy with gaming at 1080p - going to 1440p means that I may have frame rate dips under 60 fps in the more demanding games, which means possibly upgrading my video card to whatever high-end Maxwell Nvidia will release later this year. Seems like upgrading for the sake of upgrading.
The only plus is that both of my monitors will now be the same resolution since right now one is 1080p and the other is 1440p which is not really a big deal.

If you want IPS and plan to game, I suggest you look here for ideas.

I would probably get an Overlord since they offer US warranty.

I'd like more than 1200p too.

I just bought a Planar PXL2790MW IPS 1440p. Tomshardware gave it a great review, can't wait to get it. I was about to get an Overlord monitor (not the 120hz) kind but they are always sold out and for only $100 more I could get the one I ordered.

I was hoping to set up 2 of them running at 1440p but that's not looking like it's going to happen. My motherboard has a DVI-I, DisplayPort, and HDMI 1.4 (I think, ASRock doesn't give the exact version in it's specs). The monitor has DVI-D (Dual Link), Display Port and HDMI but the HDMI only supports to 1080p.
