I've been using MakeMKV to rip DVDs for a while. I have to update it every so often, but it no longer allows me to. It says I need to update to a newer version or enter a registration code. Usually I just update the program and I can still rip DVD just not Bluray. I'm wondering if this is what others are seeing. I guess I could just put up the $$, but I want to make sure that it is up and running.

If you've been using it for a while, don't you think they deserve to get paid for their efforts?

I paid for it 3 years ago. Well worth the $50 or whatever it costs now.

I paid for it a couple years ago... didn't think it was ever free. Pay for it... it's well worth it.

I might as well pay the fee. Anybody know if I can use it on my second computer?

Sure, but if the author continues to post the registration key to his website and advertise it as "free while in beta" then I don't see a problem with using it as such.

If the author wants money he can charge for it.

He does charge for it. But he also gives you the option to use it for free while its still in beta. He could easily make it a final release and charge everyone at a moment's notice. I haven't paid for it yet, but it's on my to do list in the next couple of months. It's definitely worth the cost.

I paid for a license a while back. We/I need and want to support creative folks who offer a usefull product which I use and could not create myself.
