Any guides on how to monitor a folder and automatically download all the posters and stuff instead of me going into the Video configuration and manually scanning every time I add a movie to my collection?
I can't find any easy to follow guides. For example, I already have a database of my current collection when I scanned it with Mediaportal....would I have to delete this database if I use another plugin/software or can I point to the existing database?

http://www.avsforum.com/t/1410346/mediaportal-1-2-x-install-and-setup-guide - slightly out of date, but the basics remain the same. MP Wiki is also a good source.

No need to delete exisiting db, but a 3rd party manager will AFAIK produce its own db.

Awesome..thank you. I was trying to find a easy to follow guide and this looks like it. I saw some other guides that were way beyond me.

I like the StreamedMP plugin.  It not only brings its own skin, but a bunch of plugins.  Two I especially like are TV-Series and MyMovies.  Each of these create their own database and download posters, and such from the internet.  There's a bit o' learning curve but the result is really smooth.  I've been using StreamedMP for 5 years without any hangups, and MP for close to 10 years.

I tried configuring MyMovies and it seemed like brain surgery to me. Complexity of this program is way beyond my comprehension. Moving Pictures does the job for me for now...I just want a simple navigation option with automatic downloads of posters/movie info and Moving Pictures does the job perfectly.

I'll take a look at StreamedMP and see how that goes.

Thanks.
