Hey Guys,
I have an N40L, currently running WHS 2011. I also recently received a ML 350 from my work that I could not keep the drives, and therefore does not have a valid OS...
I installed FREENAS on the ML 350, thinking it would just be a storage box...(Even though I felt it was a waste of a pretty powerful/versatile box....) Since my OEM version of WHS is attached (permanently) to my N40L...I have been thinking of adding another copy of WHS to my ML 350 box.
Is there any sense in this? Am I making too much out of my "upgradeitis"? I feel the ML350 would be better served with a "real" OS, but cannot justify 400 bux for 2012 Essentials.
The box is equipped with a 200i Hardware RAID card, I have never used RAID...not sure I have a need for it.
I have looked at Ubuntu Server/AMAHI...and some other freeware. None of them really feel like a "real' OS.
Thanks for any help
