Hi everyone,
I followed Assassin's guide to setup MCEBuddy and comskip to remove commericals. It works great for MKV files, etc.
I have several extenders, so I need the converted TV shows to show up in recorded TV, as .wtv files. Whenever i pick a 'wtv file, I can hear audio, but not see more than a second of video, and WMC crashes immediately. Has anyone else run into this problem, and/or solved it?

I have had exactly this problem. I have not been able to solve it.For whatever reason MCEBuddy will not produce commercial-free .wtv files that show up in the recorded tv folder.

I will be monitoring this thread for a solution, but I'm reasonably sure you're not going to find one.

It is a problem with the codec and such.
It's a known issue.

Googling MCEBuddy WTV problem also yields a few results that might help.

It's been a while since the last time I tried to use MCEBuddy and it did the exact same thing. Didn't bother trying to fix it but I'll give it a whirl later tonight.
E: Looks like the version I tried back then is 2.3.12 and the version you can download right now is 2.3.12.. .13 being the latest stable and .14 the beta which you can only access by paying for a early access crap. No thanks.

Yea, no fix until the codec issue gets resolved. You can do the processed WTV but you sacrifice quality. Best solution is to use Comskip with DVRMSToolbox for now. Not the best, but it works.

Yeah. I'll wait for the final version and then buy it. Not fancy of beta testing stuff on a HTPC that supposed to just work. I can just as fine FF the commercials biggrin.gif

Removing that Microsoft update worked for me.
Now I just need to get comskip working properly; sometimes it's skipping weird things and merging audio where it shouldn't.
