This Escient nightmare for Escient owners with the highly flaky hard drive - or more likely software. In my opinion, driven by desperation, this software MUST be available to users especially since owner's are now put out to dry since the company has gone bust.
The heart of these machines is their software. Changing hardware, like in other electronics, is quite futile without the software. I think Escient owes it to its users for the $4000 - $6000 they charged.
Matter of principle I say.
