For those that were not aware, Winamp support will soon come to an end. You can download the latest version, that will be the last version. After December 21st, it'll no longer be available via the official site.

A good replacement for it is Musicbee (free!). I believe you can even use winamp plugins with it.

Didn't AOL buy WINAMP?

Another AOL buy that they killed. Netscape was first.

6 TV's in the house on FiOS and we only pay $4.99/month to connect them all!!! Power to the CableCard and WMC7!!!

If Microsoft buys Winamp, please for the love of God add Winamp's visualizations to windows Media Center!!! Mp3 players can be found anywhere, but nobody comes close to WInamp's visualizations.

Winamp was dead for me when AOL bought them 10 years ago. Even if MS buys I probably still wont reconsider.

I used Winamp from ~1998 to 2005, then went away from it. I re-installed about 6 months ago, and it is again my favorite player. FLAC support is superb.

Yeah, me too. At the risk of dating myself, I really loved Creative Playcenter that came with the Sound Blaster Live cards on my old Windows 98 machines. When support for that went away under XP, I grudgingly moved to Winamp. I still use Winamp today. I like it better when I'm pruning music collections. I find that it's just easier to use.

I don't think I have used Winamp past 1999. tongue.gif
It is shocking that they even lasted this long. What they should have done is get into the hardware business and produced devices similar to Archos.

I never stopped using it, but I stopped updating it when it became bloated. I'm still using version 2.80.
