Hi,

Now that it's black friday, did you come across any good 4tb HDD deals? I checked futureshop, newegg.ca, but they don't have anything good. It's a shame. It seems like most people are interested in xbox one, TVs, than HDDs.

Thanks smile.gif

Thanks I thought it was today. I never remember these days. Because now the websites started populating "black friday" deals, I thought it was now.

Your black friday, aka monday after thanksgiving was a month ago. You will have to get stuff from the US sites, not Canadian to get BF deals. I know some Canadian retailers do some BF deals, but they are no where near the US deals because your VAT, which goes towards "free" healthcare.

6 TV's in the house on FiOS and we only pay $4.99/month to connect them all!!! Power to the CableCard and WMC7!!!

Thanks I didn't know that. I am not a big consumer around holidays. But currently want to find some HDDs with good deals so I can buy several at a good price.

Although just checked here, and it says it's Nov 29 here as well, so it's the same for US and Canada?

check techbargains daily. If you want desktop drives I've seen several $150 for 4TB deals recently. $175-200 for RAID drives.

So where are all the deals. I still haven't seen a 2TB Seagte drive cheaper than teh last time I bought one. I paid $70 earlier this year. If I had known that I would not see that price again I would have picked up five of them instead of one. The last 3TB drive I got for $109(seagate)

Office depot will have 3 TB external Seagate for $85, I think. $5 less than last year. :-)

They have the Toshiba external 3TB drive on sale Black Friday, not the Seagate.

I see Newegg has the 3TB seagate drive for $99 today. I ordered some. But I still did not see any good deals on Seagate 2TB drives. Like the $70 I saw earlier this year. I need to get more 2TB drives to change out my 1.5TB drives in one of my unRAIDs.

How low are you looking for them, I've seen them pretty cheap here and there. Is there a particular make/brand you're looking for ?

Nah. I figure pretty much any one will be faster than the current 500Gb system drive in my mom's five year old HP desktop.
Last year I picked up a 128Gb SSD somewhere for about $60 after rebate. I use it in my main PC.

Not 128, but a 120GB Kingston V300 for $69.99 from TigerDirect.

Edit, forgot the link.

Man.. I forgot I had ordered five of the 3TB Seagate drives from Newegg on Thanksgiving when they were $99. I just realized that I haven't received them yet. I guess with all of the bad weather they got delayed. They are showing a delivery date of 12/14. That's 16 days after I placed the order. I don't recall ever having a Newegg order take so long to get delivered.

Has anyone had an order from Newegg take so long before?

At least it shows that their replacement policy is extended until the end of January for the Holidays. So if I have any issues there is plenty of time to exchange it. The last time I had an issue with a new Seagate drive, I let it sit around until a day after the Newegg replacement period. So I had to go through Seagate and get a refurbished drive. I need to make sure if there are any issues that I don't let that happen again.

hi all, i'm looking for something cheap, easy and basic to back up two older computers (one 7 yrs. desktop windows xp, really only want the photos and music off this one. other is 4 yrs. laptop win7.) is something like this http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00EAYFX54/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER
good for very infrequent back ups? don't need more than 500gb but if a 1T is a better value/price, i'm all ears! doesn't need to be portable either, but this seemed to be the least expensive i could find. i can also wait for xmas deals if that would give me something at a better price. TIA for advice!

edit... sorry just realized this is in home theater forum. saw hdd deals and assumed it was computer thread!

Samsung PN51F8500. Marantz SR5008. Oppo BDP 103D. Sony BDP S5100. Emp Tek E55TIB LR, E5CIB, E55WIB. Sennheiser Momentum. Sennheiser 598.
