Hello,

I am trying to upgrade my system to play Blue Ray,1080p streaming videos, Netflix HD, etc

My current configuration is old machine AMD E-450 (X1430G) connected to 55 inch LG TV via Yamaha htr-4065

I am not able to decide which processor/motherboard should I upgrade to AMD A10 6800K or A8 6600K  or FX 6350.

I don't know which of these processor would be able to play HD video or should I be also looking at adding a graphics card and if which one.

Thank you for your advise.

A8 would be sufficient IMO. However, this thread really needs to be moved out of the "deals" section and into the main thread.

It's an FM2 socket by the way. I'd hold off as FM2+ is being released in January 2014.

A8 is easily sufficient, I went A6 which should also have no problem doing the job. I suggest getting an FM2+ board for future upgradability. I also suggest spending some time learning about the processors and their capabilities. As in, if you don't need a Haswell i7-4770, then don't buy one!

For playing local video, yes, but it might not be good for some streaming and Netflix, which are not always able to use hardware acceleration. I have an AMD 450 with Radeon HD 6320, similar to the OP, and have had no problems playing 1080p local LAN files or in streaming 720p content from the internet. Have not tried 1080p streaming from the internet, or Netflix.

The Netflix Windows 8 app seems to work fine with Super HD streaming on my E-350.

As I understand, Win 8 Netflix enables hardware acceleration. I assume the OP likely has a Win 7 setup, which means silverlight is the only option.

e-350 boards were fairly plentiful and affordable. There is only one mITX Kabini quad board (zacate successor) and it's pricey. It seems AMD wants it for netbooks only.

I still just use Roku and other devices like a BluRay player for Netflix. I quit trying the PC route long ago. My HTPC is pretty much for XBMC only, in which case the E350/E450 platforms are quite good performers. Particularly with OpenELEC.
