There is a thread over on Xbox live forums requesting XBOX One extender support. While I'm not sure Microsoft will really pay attention to the fact that this is the 2nd most requested feature, please vote it up if you still like Windows Media Center:

http://xboxvideo.uservoice.com/forums/225596-xbox-video-suggestion-box

Maybe we can vote it up to #1...

LOL, WMC as a future dev platform is dead (for MS, at least). Looks like another waste of time.

Rather than be part of the problem, be part of the solution and vote for it.

EDIT: Added my three votes.

Wow, we are approaching 500 votes! Stuff that ballot box boys! You can vote multiple times by using different browsers. 3 votes x 3 browsers = 9 easy votes

Since it is already the top requested feature...I don't think Ballot stuffing is necessary. It's telling that the top requested feature on that page has gotten no acknowledgement from Microsoft.

I am hoping if they get enough votes they will realize people actually want it...if there are not enough votes than it does not make sense to spend time working on something only a handful of people care about.

That's true, but if something like making it work with third party NASes gets acknowledged before a request to make it work with a feature in their own current operating system speaks volumes.

Not a chance. MS have zero plans for any further MC development. Only chance is for a 3rd party app. Nice idea though.

Alternatively, why not allow 3rd parties to write extender software that run on roku or on smart tvs/dvd players. Ceton could do it quite easily since they have already written the software.

Can you cite your source for this info?

Sorry, they never could get the Echo to work as an extender on Win8 so this idea is also going nowhere.

Great job guys! As of right now we have over 1,100 votes for our feature request! Microsoft may not do anything about adding Media Center Extender functionality to Xbox One but we can't say that they don't know there is interest! Let's keep it up! Share the URL to the feature request anywhere you think people might care. Let's also vote it up on Reddit! Thanks again for all the votes!

I voted, but.. as much as I understand the desire here, I'd never use it unless it could truly extend an entire WMC experience including playback of all video types via MediaBrowser or the like. Otherwise, it'll still be a crippled solution.
