With my current setup the screen tearing is terrible outside of XBMC.
- Take for example this YouTube video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5xkNy9gfKOg, it makes the tearing increadibly easy to see. A downloadable MP4 version of that tearing test can be found here: http://www.qfpost.com/file/d?g=vfi9zWZfs
- Playing that file with MPC (either windowed or full screen) also gives tearing.
- The file plays without tearing in XBMC full screen, in windowed mode there is still tearing (same results when using the YouTube app in XBMC).
So I assume this occurs because the refresh rate is not synced to the video being played back right? So is there a way to get a nice tear-free experience outside of XBMC, in particular when browsing the web (using Chrome).
In case it matters, I have the HTPC hooked up to a Samsung UE40ES5500 TV.
