Hi,

Pardon if this topic has been thrashed. My wife likes to wacth old country soap opera

real time from the 'net using laptop.  Old Thinkpad SL500 worked well for couple years

but hinges gave out  needing a replacement. I need a laptop with one purpose.

Streaming real time into HT AV receiver, so she can watch it on HDTV.  Anyone suggest

good laptop with HDMI at reasonable cost like upto $1K? Receiver is Anthem MRX500.

TIA

No idea what that show uses to stream but assuming it flash or html 5 based you probably could just pick up a cheap chromebook.

Hi,

I think they use, flash player in HD.  The SL500 did a fine job streaming very smoothly

driving 7.1 HT set up.

For myself I use Synology NAS box. Would Chromebook have enough horse power

to do the job as one trick pony?

As long as you buy one with an intel cpu it should have the power and proper architecture to run xbmc and play all standard 1080p content. (not sure about hi10 anime)
