Usually BF is a good day for PC parts and deals.

What deals and products is everyone looking at this year ?

i just built a new rig, or at least the 'skeleton' for which i'd like to grow a nice HTPC around. if i find some crazy prices, i'll consider:
-BD drive
-more ram
-new wifi pci-e card(ac)
-maybe a HDD, but it'd have to be a REALLY good deal as i still have about 2tb's of space free, and i'm pretty sure the 'regular' price will be close to the BF price by the time i've filled it up.

i don't think there's anything else i could justify at this time. regardless of the 'deal' when it comes to computers, i don't think you should ever buy something before you need it. there's always something better and cheaper around the corner

Displays: Samsung PN64F8500/JVC X35
AVR: Pioneer VSX-1018AH, 5.1 audio
Sources: HTPC(Mediabrowser), PS3, XBOX360, Wii, Sony DVP-CX995V
Control: Harmony One

Looking for a PSU, 80Plus Gold modular--450-550W...don't really need it but then I can pull the PSU in my main HTPC (which is 80Plus original) and keep it as spare, use the gold PSU full-time for max efficiency.

That and possibly a new SSD, 240/256GB if there's some nice prices on any. That'll let me juggle around some of the SSDs I have in different machines at the moment.

Looking for a couple other things comp related but probably not anything that will be on sale in BF sales (liquid cooling stuff).

I'm hoping Microcenter runs a deal on a 4790k bundle (better than their current bundle prices). Also, if someone would finally put a Norco case on sale I'd be all set. I really want to upgrade my i3 530 server!

The HTPC can wait until I upgrade to 4K.

I'm hoping oil futures go up to about 79. Forget HTPC deals, the entire HTPC will be loose change.

On the "No-duh!" side of things, I'd love to find some great BF deals on 6 TB HDDs to accommodate my expanding media library.

On the slightly more aggressive side, I'd like to find a good deal on a 4790K bundle much like @NNate would. I've been "tasked" with helping my mate put together a solid server/HTPC combo (don't get me started on his not splitting them).

For my own system, my next HTPC purchase will probably wait until at least mid-way through 2015. I want a firmer idea of where the future of my media library is headed. Also, my discretionary funds are almost entirely spoken for by the fact that I am trying (mostly in vain) to build a set of speakers for my home theatre.

a few days ago i got a 512GB Samsung 840 Pro for 259. Will use that on dad's machine. I hope to get some good deals for 2 x 2TB HDDs for him too.

note: the post above is my opinion. as such, when reading any recommendations from me, please do you research and seek out other recommendations and make up your own mind on your next course of action. i mean, most reasonable adults should know that, but it seems this should be stated anyways.

It's hard to find 3TB drives at that price.

Crucial MX100 for $189.99 today at the 'Egg.

If you like mini-ITX (I know you don't) I know a place where everyday is Black Friday

$189 6TB drives are what I want.

Non-standard RAIDs can recover deleted files. Anyone who says RAID protection is only for failed drives is lying.

This wouldn't surprise me. I picked up one (internal Seagate) at that price a week or so ago from TigerDirect (using the Mastercard checkout promo of $30 off + there was a $20 MIR).

A NZXT S340 computer case is on my horizon. All the better if it were a Black Friday deal...
And a couple of larger capacity ssd's would be nice.

I'd also be up for some 6TB hard drives.

An HTPC shouldn't cost more than $100 so 6TB drives should really be priced at 50 cents. I mean, they're just made of plastic and metal which isn't worth $200. Anyone who sells metal and plastic for $200 is a ripoff artist. Am I right? Am I right?

You forgot the silicon. It's really just refined sand, right? That shouldn't more more than a dollar or two, eh?

I'd rather pay more for a Hitachi or Seagate.

^^ it's always the same. great deals on stuff i don't actually want, and the stuff i want, now looks even more expensive compared to these deals, haha.

for example, i'd much prefer a 4 or 5tb hdd, but paying 40-50bux/TB now seems stupid compared to 30bux/TB for that 3TB seagate...

I hear you...

But that ad is almost tailor made for me. Lots to tempt me.

I haven't even assembled my Unraid pile of parts and that 3570K is tempting me,
as a cpu upgrade. I do have 2x6TB plus a 4TB drive to start, but there's be
lots of SATA ports on the pci-e controller card and 3TB seems to be the bang for the buck
sweet spot.

My nephews are likely to be getting a 120G ssd each, for Christmas. I have enough smaller
ssds, I was hoping for a larger capacity Plextor M6e and 6TB deal.
