Well..

I did a bit of research on this, and if anyone is interested, there is a local place near me that will do not too small runs of case badges. They look decent, but not drop dead gorgeous. from normal viewing distances, they look great, but if you put your face right up to them, they look like they were output from an inkjet. That's the bad news. It has a 3D type look to it, since it is raised about 1/16th of an inch, in some sort of clear plastic. Standard case badge size as well.

The good news? CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP! I figure about $1.00 US per badge... Now the only thing is they need a minimum run of 300 Badges. I figure with all of us here, we can certainly come up with 300 different HTPCs that need badges? I don't mind mailing them out to people once the run is complete as well... but I'd need shipping. I think I'd be able to just stick them into an envelope and mail them out... So probably be about 50 cents US extra?

So the two big problems I see are...

1) we STILL NEED A DESIGN!
2) how do I get payment? Paypal? Moneyorder? For a $1.50? CRAZY!

Perhaps a minimum of 2 badges, so then people who would feel comfortable mailing 3 bills, could do so... or perhaps paypal.

So post away if you guys feel like doing this or not... I certainly would for a couple of bucks... Would be the cheapest accessory I've ever bought for my HTPC!!!

I am up for this... Long T design in Silver on Black, gets my vote...

Simple and effective.. I would just put a couple of $$ in an envelope..

PhatPhreddy,
I'm right behind you. Either plain "Long Tee" or Long Tee with "Digital Audio" on top, "Digital Video" on bottom, or whatever the majority decides.

My objective was to create a stylized text logo that wasn't TOO reminiscent of existing logos (THX, dts, DD, etc) so we'd have something uniquely ours.

While I like the THX logo itself, the HTPC version doesn't look right. The THX logo works well with the bar because the T is at one end. The shorter left side helps the eye see the T whereas on the HTPC logo it has a tendency to look like HIPC with a bar above it.

The 4 block HTPC logos look real plain and many of the others look too busy. Of the current examples, I actually like the dts knockoff the best.

Well...here are my tries. Which one of the four do folks like the best? I'm just going to order some and I'm leaning toward 2 or 4. The smaller text looks too small when reduced to badge size. I have asked the manufacturer if the background can be an iridescent silver metallic...visually it would give you the same sort of effect as a CD.

Otherwise, I'll have to decide whether to invert the image and use white on black or pick gold or silver as the background color.
