I know I have read info on this in the past, and I have read the FAQ, but I'm still somewhat at a loss. I'm thinking my ATI player may be a lame version or something.

I have a 1GHz P3, Radeon 64MB, and Audiophile 24/96. When I use WinDVD I get good (not great) video and working digital audio to my Rotel RSP-985. When I use the ATI player I get excellent video, but can only get analog audio. SPDIF won't work.

I attempted to download and install the latest ATI DVD player, but was stymied when it wanted the number off the CD. I entered that, but it wouldn't take it.

The version I currently have seems to be 7.1 or something, the same as the ATI tools.

Any thoughts?

By the way, the HTPC is awesome with my NEC GP-3000 projector. dScaler and DVD output are so superior to what I have before, I can hardly stand it. I can hardly wait until I get my NEC XG-1100 running...

Hope some of this info helps:

From the Rage3D site -

Aparently a number of people have had problems with the installation of the new ATI DVD Player that is availible for download. The main problem is making the install detect that you have the right CD. Here is a fix:

1)Browse the contents of the CD to \\install\\mmcdvd\\dvd\\
2)Look for the file dvd.dll and RIGHT-CLICK on it and choose properties.
3)In the window that opens up, click on the versions tab. Write the very top file version number. (eg. 7.0.0.23)
4)Enter the coresponding CD-KEY number from this list.
5)Should install properly now.

ATI DD w/ DVDGenie -

Once you get the ATI 4.1 DVD player intstalled, use DVDGenie, following the radeon instructions at www.dtvmax.com to enable SPDIF output.

I just built a system very similar to yours (with 32MB DDR radeon and a crystal audio card), and got SPDIF output going last night.

Now I just need to get dScaler and PowerDVD working...

i HAD problems with the ATI MMC 4.1 dvd player but i now have the required category 4 setting for the Radeon and DD passthrough; just follow XCEL's instructions as to the proper DVDGenie settings for the Cinemaster (ATI) tab and you should enable SPDIF out. Let us know how everything goes. Good luck
