Has anyone tried this from the Microsoft W2K Windows Update site yet:

Creative Labs, Inc. - Audio
2331 KB/ Download Time: < 1 min
CT4760 - V. 5.12.01.3107

I've already got SP2 installed and AC3/DTS/etc.. all are working well and I don't want to mess up my happy system with this new driver. I couldn't find anything about this driver at Microsoft.

Thanks

lots of chatter on the newsgroup - creative.products.sound_blaster.live

One comment was that the update is only for the drivers that ship with Win2k.

Well, I tried that install on my Win2000Pro w/ a SB 5.1 Platinum soundcard. Live update downloaded it but W2K refused to install it, because it explained that I have already a more suitable driver installed. So, just give it try... in worst case it will reject that driver!

I tried to get those drivers to work, tried removing livewire, sbdrivers everything, and it still didn't work. I noticed now that I don't even see the link for the drivers at the windows update site? Anyone else notice this?

Ive been using the 5.12.01.3204 unoficial drivers ever since they were released, which have a newer rev # that mentioned above. They STILL don't support the ac3 passthrough feature of SP2. However, these drivers are much more solid than the official drivers posted on creative's site. For some reason reason though after I installed these drivers, I have this stupid news update process which quietly runs in the background every once in a while. I actually deleted the executable and the process doesn't start anymore.
