HTPC Configurations

Hello, i have helped My friend setup his hometheater (budget-friendly edition).
The parts we use are:
Raspberry pi 3 model B -> HTIB Samsung D6750W-> Epson TW-700
Everything is connected with HDMI Btw.

The projector is an older 720p model. I have set the samsung to output 720p, and then the raspberry aswell outputs 720p to the receiver.
The question I have is that if i play a 1080p movie through the raspberry, would i get a better picture quality if i set the samsung and raspberry to 1080p?
I know that the projector Will still only output 720p in the end, but Will it perhaps be of better quality if i set the raspberry and samsung on 1080p?

Thanks!

There's no way to know for certain without trying it. In some cases the display device has the best scaling, in other cases it's some other device which does it best.
