Exclamation Kodi via built in TV Chromecast

I am currently using Kodi on a Chromebook, and smartcasting that to my TV.
I'd imagine with technology and the capabilities of modern TV, cutting out the Chromebook/laptop/PC should be possible no? I'd like to simply run Kodi directly off my Vizio E70-E3 TV.

My TV has built in Chromecast. There is a "smartcast" option on my TV that brings up all the apps, netflix/hulu/ whatever... It would be amazing to just run Kodi...? This has to be possible no?

Possible, yes. Likely, no.

You'd need to figure out what OS is running on the TV, get Kodi compiled for that OS, and then somehow load it on your TV. Someone in the Kodi forums asked about Kodi on WebOS (so they could run it on their TV), and the devs said a port to WebOS would be very, very challenging. And that's an almost mainstream alternative OS. Many TVs run some really proprietary, off the wall, OSs.
