Question 7.1 atmos sound from pc

I have two pc

one is e6430 with nvidia NVS 5200M with receiver onkyo rc460

another is m4600 the graphics card inside is NVIDIA Quadro 1000M with onkyo nr545 (according onkyo this can do atmos)

both running the latest windows 10

I am trying to play atmos video sample download from website. Only media and tv app from windows and vlc app from windows store play the file. why? because my video card can not pass the sound info to my receiver?

How old are the machines? Pretty much any video card after 2012 should be able to do what you need. I believe I have been able to do this since 2010 or so with midrange video cards.

The onkyo rc460 does not support atmos. You can check in the sound control panel what audio formats is supported. It should look similar to this

The best FREE player is MPC-HC.

The best PAID player is PowerDVD 17.
