Thanks to all for the many posts I have read these past few weeks and our sponsors, Better Cables and Digital Connection for their prompt delivery. The boxes are here and the cable arrived. I start on the HTPC tonight. I had an PIII 866mhz on a ASUS CUSL2 e/w a Asus V7700 Geforce and SB Live CT4830. A cable from Better Cables is here, An ASUS 12X DVD from a local vendor. and today the box from Digital Connection arrived with the AccessTV and AP2496 and PowerDVD.

The game is afoot!!!

I believe TBMike is thanking all of the members for the posts he used to make his decisions. Second he is thanking the sponsors of the AVScience forum for providing a great place to learn and share what is working and what is not.

I Agree on all points. This is the best site on the WWW for HTPC information.

You mean Digital Connection gets all this advertising for free??

Alas all is not well. Win98SE does not want to run my accessTV card. I was hasty and loaded software first. I know I had already read that you don't do that. So now 15 removals and installs later including moving slots, removing everything but sound card and video card it still gives me Software cannot open device error??
P.S. Anyone else have problems with RF connectors hitting case in back slot opening. Had to perform surgery on case opening with pliers to make card seat and put in screw?

Hi TBMike:

___Does the AccessDTV card even show up in the Device manager? If not, it sounds as if it is not seated all the way into the PCI slot. Reseat the card firmly without breaking the board and try again.

___Good Luck

Yes both drivers were showing working OK with no conflicts. Also the video was hooked up as pass thru and OK. However the IRQ's assigned were also assigned to other things like NIC card.
After reading about the 98 SE patch I tried upgrading to ME and now I have managed to get it really messed up. (Not hard with Windows). About to format and restart.
