MyHD Release version 1.66 posted for download

Months have passed since MIT started to work on closed captioning. After 7 or 8 beta versions we now have a release build version of closed captioning (CC) at long last. This version can decode both the DTV captions (EIA-708) and NTSC caption (EIA-608) data. You can enable the closed captioning in the CC setup tab or by pressing the CAPTION button. This version also supports CC on Mute (in analog audio mode) for people that don’t need full time CC, but would like to have CC when the phone rings.

We think that many of DTV stations are already broadcasting closed caption services on their DTV signals and all sub-channels are required to support DTV-CC by the first of next year. This version can’t support analog CC on DTV channels.

This version also supports Constant Bitrate (CBR) recording of sub channels so that FF/REW jump times and the clock time is displayed properly.

This is a full install of the application and drivers package. When upgrading from older versions it is a good idea to save your channel scan list, file play list, and scheduled recording list before doing a clean install.

The new v1.66 install package can be downloaded from MIT at:

ftp://ftp.mitinc.co.kr/pub/MyHD/v1.6...Drv_v1.66E.exe

The v1.66 software is now posted for download at Digital Connection. It is on the right side of the page under Product Info.

http://www.digitalconnection.com/Pro...deo/mdp130.asp

************************
* MyHD v1.66 Changes *
************************

; The install package of v1.66 also includes the drivers for the MyHD card
and the MyHD USB IR receiver, and you can install the application and the
drivers using this package at once.

- Closed captioning is supported. Both the DTV caption (EIA-708) and NTSC
caption (EIA-608) data can be decoded. You can enable the closed captioning
in the CC setup tab or by pressing the CAPTION button of the IR remote.

*******************************
* MyHD driver v1.66 Changes *
*******************************

; You can install, update or uninstall the drivers using the auto-install utility
"MyHD_DrvInst.exe" in the driver directory.

- Closed captioning is supported.
- The sub-channel only recording is performed with constant bitrate.

Please post all comments about v1.66 in this thread.

Installed on both of my machines with no problems so far.

Any way to toggle the CC when using SPIDF out? I thought it might be the mute key as someone requested but looks like that didn't work out?

You can toggle CC on/off with the CAPTION button on the remote with S/PDIF output.

I haven't thought much of the CC feature, but then tonight watching Prison Break the sound kept breaking up over and over and over. Made me wish I'd downloaded the newer version. Not sure if the local Fox station has CC in HD, but with all the sound problems that occur with HD broadcasts, CC would be a great feature until they get the kinks worked out.

The Fox primetime network HD shows essentially all have DTV CC.

I can't seem to find a server to host the software at this time. Can any member here host it for short period of time?

If you can please drop me an email at cliff@digitalconnection.com

Hi, Cliff!

It's my pleasure! I'm delighted to be able to contribute a tiny bit to MyHD - especially with this long-awaited release! By the way, there should be plenty of available bandwidth, so there's no hurry to rehost the file.

Have Fun!

Is there any way to not record the null packets on the sub channels like the old release?

Sure there is, just keep using the old release. Of course you will still have the timing problem for FF/REW and the time bar clock.

This CBR version uses only a small amount of nulls to insure correct PCR timing.

I updated just to get the sub-channel recording with accurate FF/REW -- it seems to these well. Many thanks, Cliff.

Hey Guys,

Can an All In Wonder 9600 co-exist and function properly with a MYHD-120? I picked one up for analog time shifting etc and after installing it I no longer have overlayed video from MYHD on my desktop. I'm also having trouble getting it to work with the Gemstar guide which seems to be indicating a conflict between the 2 tuners. I tried to search this forum but the search function here pretty much bites...

Thanks,
SEVENX

I am running an 9600 AIW with a MyHD-120 with no problems. I don't recall ever having any problems. Have you tried reinstalling MyHD after installing the AIW?

No it fixed the "time" problem with MyHD captures. Fusion has to fix their own problem.

Not surprised. I guess they'll fix that after they make the core software reliable. 2008 or so.

Not sure if you get it, but it's a problem with the Fusion software, not the MyHD software. I haven't had any issues with the Fusion version I've been using. I'll have to look up when one I've installed--it's about 3-4 months old.

If you do get it, and you're talking about Fusion fixing the issue, you are an optimist! :D
