Log files attached. Will probably have to create them again for you because I didn't turn on the switch you needed.

RT no longer gives me the "Parameter_Error: Missing time field" message. I haven't actually had a chance to test the feature but I am using it:
Medium
CSI: Miami
Bones [subtitle "The Soldier on the Grave" subtitle "The Woman in Limbo"]
Alias
Veronica Mars
CSI: NY
Smallville [subtitle "Mercy"]
Supernatural [subtitle "Dead Man's Blood"]

The last version of RT I downloaded screwed up dated recording this evening. I lost CSI's and ER's season finales!

The INI file had Lost dated for last night. That worked last night. Tonight, ER and CSI were dated recordings. We were out at an event tonight, and when I got home...nothing. The log file indicates that the Lost recording date has passed--duh--and then didn't record the recordings dated tonight.

Let me crawl into a hole and never come out again.
All I can say is that I am using the 5/17/06 version too.
You use the manual option and a Fusion card?

The problem was with ExcludeChannels. I hope,,,, before I get lynched.
I included looking at the MapFusionName table and broke it.
Sorry.

And no, I don't have ExcludeChannels set.

Do you have ExcludeChannels set or do I have to look at something else.
If ExcludeChannels was set nothing would get recorded.

I don't even know what ExcludeChannels does, but it's not set. As I said, the INI worked Wednesday for Lost, but not Thursday. The only feedback was that the scheduled date for Lost had passed, and then a failed message at the end.

What we're saying then is that we are still debugging this relatively new feature, Manual Entries. It was just a coincidence this problem occurred at the same time I broke ExcludeChannels. I'll get a fix out in a bit. Will the US mail take 17GB if I mail them to you

This version changes the exception handling of passed dates and times for a manual date entry. A warning is issued instead of an error and processing of the ini file continues.

Those bits don't weigh anything, they're free. It's that pesky media that they charge you to ship :-)

here is an rt.ini and the resulting log that is from my working setup on TimeWarnerCable.
my ini shows the use of the new mapping options in the CHANNEL parameter and MapFusionName parameter.
the attached zipped log shows from where those mappings came.
(it looks like avs is accepting zip files again)
please post any questions about RT to this thread, thanks.

Because of possible new users I'm posting another RT with only the ini file changed. It cleans up the typos that KAXKID referred to.

And I see we are back to zip files again.

OK guys, I have this kind of working for my F5USB card in QAM mode. Question I have is related to channel mapping. In xmltv listings I have channel names such as:
KABCDT, KCBSDT
However in Fusion via psip mapping they are mapped to KABC HD and KCBSHD (note the space in KABC HD).

So how would MapFusionName listings look for the above? It seems to me there is an assumption that for channels with psip information that the names will match the xmltv names which is not the case here.

Also, for channels without psip (most of them) many of them are only 4 characters. For example, KOCEDT is D861 in Fusion. However if I put the following entry in the .ini file:
>> MapFusionName D861 KOCEDT
it bombs out saying 5 characters are expected for Fusion name.

Thanks for any pointers.

EDIT: I have added a zip file containing my Record_This_Log.txt file with "showxml", "showallchannels" and "showsubchannels" directives enabled.
EDIT: Also note I was able to get a recording from an analog channel to work which confirms things are working assuming I can get the correct channel mapping information in place.

i need more info to sort it out.

OK, once I realized that Physical Channel means RF channel then it looks like I can get things working. I guess I don't understand the need for the "MapFusionName" directive as it doesn't seem to be necessary? The following seem to work:

>>CHANNEL KCBSDT 85 2 1 CABD
>>CHANNEL KNBDCT 84 4 1 CABD
>>CHANNEL KABCDT 99 991 1 CABD
>>CHANNEL KOCEDT 86 861 1 CABD
>>CHANNEL KTTVDT 99 990 1 CABD

For channel names I used the xmltv channel names instead of the Fusion channel names, so perhaps that's why the MapFusionName is not necessary for me.

yes, that looks more like what it should look like. you might not have to use the MapFusionName parameter because of the lower two digit rf channels you have.

also the EXCLUDECHANNELS parameter is a toggle, don't list channels that you want to exclude in the ini.

another syntax error i saw was listing the channel name with the program. only the program name you want to record should be listed in the ini, and it does not get the operator >> in front of it.
<< is for comments
>> is for commands (parameters, options etc)

let us know your progress as it may be that the MapFusionName parameter might not need changing.

Yeah, I'm still mixing up << and >> as they look too much alike.

So far with above CHANNEL directives for HD channels I've successfully scheduled shows on KCBSDT and KABCDT so no doubt the others should work too - but I'm going to try them all just to be sure.

What I didn't see is a way to restrict recordings by title to certain channels without having to specify a specific time. i.e. is there a way to say record title "lost" on KABCDT only. In examples I saw closest I could see was something like:
Title [At on Every SMTWRFA]

It is not legal to have something like the following for example:
Lost [on KABCDT]

Thanks for all your help.

On the 5 character channel name size. Maybe that needs to be more flexible but only after I see how Fusion sets up a manual entry for your channels.

KAXKID would create a manual entry using the Fusion console and then show me the 32 byte reservation data. We would need to see what a reservation looked like on one of those channels that is below 1000 range.

Also you can probably turn off showxml for now.

OK, I assume it's the Epg2List.Mdb file you need to look at right? Attached is one. It has a manual recording called "test_manual" I just created on an HD channel on RF 86. If that's not what you need then please let me know. This may be what you are talking about in ProgramList:

you can stop the duplicate analog channels from being scheduled by editing the list in your zap2it account.

No I don't want to do that because I'm using my zap2it account for scheduling with another program (been using the account for a long time before RT) and need to have the analog channels in there. Seems like what I have in .ini file now is blocking them so that's good enough.

the rest of the gcode (year, month, day, start time, duration in this format yyyymmddhhmmsshhmmss) is gleaned from the xml file for the program you will record.

ok, i understand not excluding them from the zap2it list.

I see now. Just by having the ExcludeChannels enabled it's blocking out everything except the explicitly defined channels (in my case I only care about the HD ones) and that's exactly how I want it. Thanks.

FYI. I switched over to OTA mode and got HD channel recording via Record_This working as well so I think I'm pretty much set for both QAM & OTA. It's nice the program is command line as I was able to wrap xmltv & RT into a Perl script to automate everything (and run xmltv only if necessary), and now I can run that Perl script via scheduler daily if desired.

Thanks for your help Steve and thanks very much for the program AllenDB!

when you are satisfied that you have the qam mapping working, why not post a copy of your working RT ini and a Rt log with showallchannels and ShowSubChannels enabled, as documentation for others to follow.
and any other hints to make implementing RT easier.
thanks.

This is a summary of how I setup RT for my Fusion F5USB in QAM mode:

1. In Record_This.ini file, make sure the following directives are enabled:
>> xmlfilename c:\\home\\fusion\\Record_This\\oneday.xml
>> dbpath c:\\Program Files\\DVICO\\FusionHDTV\\epg2list.mdb
>> FusionVersion 3.3
>> showallchannels
>> ShowSubChannels

2. Make sure your Fusion card is powered up/plugged in and run Record_This.exe and then examine Record_This_Log.txt file and look for channels of interest you wish to record. Here's the ones of interest for me:
(NOTE: The numbers in bold below are the numbers we need to put in CHANNEL statements in step 4 below)
05/29/06 00:17:57 Dump_All_Sub_Channels: Cable channel 85 Sub_Channel count 3 Str Length 122
05/29/06 00:17:57 Dump_Sub_Channel: Name KCBSHD Virtual Channel 2 Sub Channel 1 Program Number 3

05/29/06 00:17:57 Dump_All_Sub_Channels: Cable channel 84 Sub_Channel count 2 Str Length 122
05/29/06 00:17:57 Dump_Sub_Channel: Name KNBC HD Virtual Channel 4 Sub Channel 1 Program Number 2

05/29/06 00:17:57 Dump_All_Sub_Channels: Cable channel 99 Sub_Channel count 4 Str Length 122
05/29/06 00:17:57 Dump_Sub_Channel: Name KTTV HD Virtual Channel 990 Sub Channel 1 Program Number 3
05/29/06 00:17:57 Dump_Sub_Channel: Name KABC HD Virtual Channel 991 Sub Channel 1 Program Number 1

05/29/06 00:17:57 Dump_All_Sub_Channels: Cable channel 86 Sub_Channel count 2 Str Length 122
05/29/06 00:17:57 Dump_Sub_Channel: Name D860 Virtual Channel 860 Sub Channel 1 Program Number 2
05/29/06 00:17:57 Dump_Sub_Channel: Name D861 Virtual Channel 861 Sub Channel 1 Program Number 1

3. Determine Fusion -> xmltv channel name mappings. For me it is:
KCBSHD -> KCBSDT
KNBC HD -> KNBCDT
KTTV HD -> KTTVDT
KABC HD -> KABCDT
D860 -> KTLADT
D861 -> KOCEDT

4. Add the appropriate channel entries to Record_This.ini:
(NOTE: Use the xmltv channel names)
>>CHANNEL KCBSDT 85 2 1 CABD
>>CHANNEL KNBDCT 84 4 1 CABD
>>CHANNEL KTTVDT 99 990 1 CABD
>>CHANNEL KABCDT 99 991 1 CABD
>>CHANNEL KTLADT 86 860 1 CABD
>>CHANNEL KOCEDT 86 861 1 CABD

5. If you only want to schedule recordings on above channels enable:
>> EXCLUDECHANNELS

My full Record_This.ini file looks like:
Code:
<< My Record_this.ini file
>> reruns
>> xmlfilename c:\\home\\fusion\\Record_This\\oneday.xml
>> dbpath c:\\Program Files\\DVICO\\FusionHDTV\\epg2list.mdb
<<>> showxml
<<>> scheduleconflicts
<<>> filenamestyle title
<<>> directorystyle none
<<>> showoldschedule
>> showaddedschedule
<<>> showallprograms
>> FusionVersion 3.3
<< ---QAM CHANNELS---
<<>>CHANNEL KTTV 0 11 1 CABA
>>CHANNEL KCBSDT 85 2 1 CABD
>>CHANNEL KNBDCT 84 4 1 CABD
>>CHANNEL KTLADT 86 860 1 CABD
>>CHANNEL KABCDT 99 991 1 CABD
>>CHANNEL KOCEDT 86 861 1 CABD
>>CHANNEL KTTVDT 99 990 1 CABD
<<NOTE: EXCLUDECHANELS blocks out all except the above
>> EXCLUDECHANNELS
>> today
<<>> tomorrow
