But the physical tuners are disconnected and on a shelf unlikely to return.

OK, good point, those won't return if not again plugged in.

Terry,

Is it now OK to allow Java Script to run in browsers now.

I have it off and for about a week AVS has had severe problems with IE11.

SHF

Thanks's AVS. Very Funny, I have an edit button for this post but not for the one in FOC.

Nani, Java does not equal Javascript. I'd be amazed if AVS Forum used Java and I've seen no notices that Java should be allowed to run in Browsers. Javascript on the otherhand is very common (and does not require that you even have Java installed on your PC).

I am amazed by AVS not being able to duplicate all the editing problems I suddenly have seen.

I only did a quick test and someone posted that it was not the problem also.

I guess the hatred of Microsoft is beginning to pay off, IE users seem to just not to be wanted by AVS. But then AVS may be on it's final path to doom.

What were the numbers just before Huddler sold it?

I haven't paid a jot of attention to who runs this joint. It was sold? Is that why there was a change in the forum software??

Yes, Huddler did a lot of good stuff but when AVS was sold to

http://www.avsforum.com/forum/member...icalscope.html

the Huddler software could no longer be used. Thus a mad programming dash to create something like we had with Huddler.

The programmers have gone off their 27/7/365 panic mode and changes (fixes) now are much slower and some platforms / newsreaders have had massive problems.

Outlook, not to be confused with Outlook Express / Windows Mail from Vista that I am using, has problems still not fixed and may never.

Some stats from June 2013

Always go the first post in this thread and follow the links to download the latest version of CW_EPG.

Link to first post:
Cliff Watson EPG add-on for MyHD, FusionHDTV, and HD Homerun

Or select "First" from the navigation links.

"CW_EPG Version x.x.x.x" right at the very start is the link.

That is the version you can use to download the listings from the SD server.

Nice work. Thanks!
My 4.0.1 was still working, but I decided to update it.

I had no issues. Just downloaded the zip file from post # 1 , unzipped, ran the setup exe, took all the defaults. When I opened the application, I continued to take all of the defaults (or answered the warning dialogs). I didn't have any issues with Schedules Direct lineups. I did end up with two CW_EPG items in the task bar, one that didn't seem to have an associated window (the only option on right click was 'close'). I killed that, then opened the application again and it looked/worked like it always has, as far as I can tell.

Dale, are you saying that you were still getting new listiing using the old exe as of yesterday? I thought that the old server had gone away last week. Hmm...had you made the hosts file change? That could explain why the old app still worked.

Yeah. It was an unexpected result for me too, so even though I "knew" I didn't change the hosts file, I looked at it, and on that machine, it appeared to be the untouched original (just had localhost). Presuming the one that's active is in "c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc" on an XP system.

End of Year, Easter, Christmas next year?

After I read one message that said nothing is going to be changed I thought about how that could be and came up with several reasons how that could be.

First, Schedules Direct servers are supplying ALL the data now to us now.

Second, Grace Note (TMS) servers have been put to other uses, turned off, in any case consider them to be gone.

Third the Grace Note (TMS) DNS entries were changed to point to the SD servers.

It is when the Grace Note (TMS) DNS entries are deleted when all the people using old applications will lose their program listings. I assume that Grace Note (TMS) DNS entries are paid by the year. As no refund is available for partial years, just not renewing will make them go away.

Thus "End of Year" is possible when the DNS entries may go away.

If they remain it’s possible that they paid for several years in advance.

"Easter" is possible if someone forgot to have the DNS entries removed, or no one had the responsibility and some one asked "should they be deleted".

It may be like when I caused two streams to be taken off a transmitter just by asking TMS to add program listings for the streams. Some one at the station discovered they still were on but not making any money for the station.

"Christmas next year" Well, the DNS entries are not costing Grace Note (TMS) any more money and as Schedules Direct has a contract and are keeping up with the payments, removing the DNS entries may reduce the SD membership. Some people may just not renew causing $25 to go to $30 and then to $35 with the next step being "End of Schedules Direct’.

So it may be in Grace Note (TMS)’s interest to keep the DNS entries alive.

Only time will tell.

As far as CW_EPG, the new version has several additions that I like.

I repeat: It has no additions.

Edit: Oh, okay, there were a couple of minor bug fixes and cosmetic changes made in 2011-2013 that never made it to the public version. (I had intended to get them rolled out back then but my day job interfered with that plan) Enjoy.

Well, if you go back a few posts you will see the new ability to change the order of file names for the captures I posted. "File Name Options".

The line you click on in the matches window is highlighted differently.

After clicking on a line in the Listing window changing the sort order keeps the selected line in the new sort order display.

After clicking on a line in the History window changing the sort order keeps the selected line in the new sort order display.

When you click to move to the next page of Programs to Match one entry from the previous page remains.

There are other tweaks that you may be not aware that are new because you have been using them for up to two (2) years. They are new to non CW_EPG team members.

The First one I listed is the biggest change and should not be down played as well as the others.

The tweaks are normal options in my high powered database program PARADOX so I have seen what is missing and has been changed to the better. CW_EPG is just a database program and there is one Paradox person who could in a weekend create all the functions. It would look different and you would need to do some things differently. She posted a link to a horizontal program listing program. I could not run it because she had a different listing source but looking at the code I was very impressed even as I could understand little.

None of which you saw the need to release a new version even after almost two years. There still are minor tweaks that are missing.
