Yes, and the HTPC would not of been at all possible were it not for the AVSFORUM people. Thanx for the help. Enjoy. Takes a while to down load if using less than 56k.

Hi Craig,

That is truly an awesome system. You should be very proud! I would love to hear more about your black velvet masking system. That looks like something that I would love to copy from you!

sweeet! Excellent HT setup. Question: why the two DVD drives and not just one regionless drive, i'm sure they are easier to find in europe than the US? Regardless you effectly explained HTPC users dirty little secret, PCs give a damn good picture...

Thanx guys!
In answer to a few questions...
Black bars. E mail me, and I will explain more. I'll attach the pics that I did not use on the site. Maybe a diagram as well. YOU WILL BE AMAZED AT HOW THIS WILL IMPROVE IMAGE!!!

I opted for the 2 drives as it is getting hard to find an RCP 1 Drive in the mainstream stores. I killed a Drive not that long ago, whilst try to region HACK it. I did not want to make the same mistake twice.

I'm speechless. You've inspired my to get off of my duff and finish the nagging projects in my dedicated HT that I haven't gotten around to. Beautiful room , Craig!!

Hi Craig,

I just spent a little more time on your site. Truly an awesome room. Really.

Anyway, enough of that. I was looking at your HTPC specs, and it's really impressive (2 DVD drives, 256 MB RAM, etc), except for the processor. Does a P III 533mhz cut it? I thought that a 550 was right around the minimum, but it sounds like your system kicks some BUTT, so maybe it's a non-issue. Can you tell us more about that?

Milori,
The speed is actually fine. I too was a little surprised. However, DVD and games are great. Maybe its a combination of many things. Now, having been an HT head for some 10 years, I know a good Pic when I see one, and this is darn fine. Smooth motion, great colors.

BLACK MASKING
I'll do a diagram, and post a link to it at the weekend (if I get time). Otherwise, e mail me, and that should give me the Kick up the ass to do something.

Glad to see the Pearl and Dean stuff being recognized across the pond!
What would it's U.S equivlent be?

Hi Craig,

That is a truly awesome setup you have. It is great to see someone over here with such a superb home theater.

I am really quite new to this all and I am blown away with the levels people go to to get their systems the way they want them.

I am just starting to look at the potentials offered from a HTPC system as against using a standalone DVD player. You have really inspired me to look into this...

My V.humble system consists of:

Onkyo 575x AV receiver
Sony KL50 W2 RPTV LCD
Hollywood plus hardware decoder card
Pioneer DVD rom drive
Kef Coda 8 fronts
Kef Reference 100 centre
Definitive Tech pro monitor 80 rears

I really need to upgrade my pc big time in order to get good results with software playback but from what you say on your website it should be worth it.

Did you import a lot of you components from the U.S or are they available over here?

Craig,

Congratulations on the work well done. How about a demo one weekend if you are not too far from me (I am in west London).

Regards.
