Hello,
The following is my HT setup:

My 7.2 HT Setup:
TV - NEC 50XR5
Receiver - AVR-740
Center Speaker - TSS- SAT4000 Center
Left & Right - TSS-SAT4000
Surrounds -TSS- SAT1100
Subwoofer - left & Right -TSS-SUB4000
DVD player - DVD 47
Remote - Logitech Hormony 890
Dish - Dish network DVR ( dont remember the model #)

- I have all the components sitting inside the closet and I use Harmony 890 to control.
- I have my Home PC where I have songs and downloaded low quality (international) movies and would like to watch it from my HT.

Question:
What video card do I need in my PC to connect it to my receiver HK 740. (it supports HDMI inputs)?
All I need is to play those downloaded VCDs, DVD rips and .VOBs from my PC to my HT?

I probably need to do some home work, but it would be helpful if someone could lead me to the right direction.

Thank you.

Well, you need an HDMI equipped video card and at the very least something to control the PC. Either a wireless keyboard/mouse or a remote.

Check out this thread.

Why do you want to connect the video card to the receiver? Just get a sound card with digital out (coax or optical) and connect that to the receiver.

I think the NEC has a vga port at the back, so just pick yourself up a VGA cable and you'll be good to go. Or you could get a DVI-HDMI cable.
