Not sure there is a "best," but I get great results with DVDFab Decrypter. It is free and is kept up to date. The latest version even lets you rip only the movie and trim all the fluff out.

than dvd shrink if you don't want to rip to DL discs

DVD fab decryptor is a great one. I highly recommend DVDfabdecyrptor Platinum if you wanna pay. I highly recommend the $30 (I believe that's what the price is). Does a wonderful job ripping, transcoding, or splitting the disc (as well as reencoding for a psp, Ipod or generic video mp3 player.)

I like dvd shrink for ease of use, but use dvd decrypter if anything gets "tricky".
