What, only 120 reserved posts?

Just want to say thanks for your posts on HTPC hardware. The info helped tremendously in my HTPC build.

Interesting article. Just FYI, I lucked up on an unexpected gem. I bought a $300 IBM refurbished ThinkCentre off their web site. It is a dead silent 3GHZ P4 with HT and gigabit nic. I put in some more memory, and my Happague PVR-350, a firewire card, an unused Sony burner I had on the shelf, and a second IDE drive and got a $60 Adesso wireless keyboard. I'm sitting right next to the PC - can't even hear it. So now it is the mainstay of my "family" HTPC (naw, they ain't touchin' mine!), connected to a SONY VGPXL1B2 and a 42" Olevia 542i. Cheap Nirvana. BTW plays all my video content - no blips with vlc player, WMP, etc.

All this was to suggest, before you build, maybe there's a good (surprise) buy out there ...

Have fun either way!

(full disclosure: retired IBMer )

Great info here! Have you considered packaging these posts up as a PDF for portability?
