does anyone have this working?

i am about to buy a dv9500t from hp mainly because i want to hook it up to my old 73" mits with an hdmi port - will that work?

the laptop screen reso maxes out at 1050 but will it output 1080i so it wont look all screwed up on my screen?

the laptop also says it outputs 1080p if you buy the hddvd player option - will that be okay on a 1080i - willin downconvert?

of course hp says itll be fine - but they are awful w tech support as we know...

thx!

bjmjpl,

I can't speak for the HP laptop, can I can relate my experiences with my Toshiba Qosmio laptop, which has a very similar configuration to the one you describe.

My Qosmio has HD DVD playback capability and HDMI output, which I connect ot my Hitachi 1080i HDTV with a HDMI-DVI conversion cable. Playback I would give a 9 out of 10. Picture quality is perfect... Sharp, well defined, definitely a step up from standard DVD. To my eye, I can tell a noticable difference. I give it a 9 due to the fact that for about 5 seconds every 10 minutes or so during playback, I see the video stutter very slightly. My wife swears she doesn't see what I'm talking about, but I swear it's there. Testing continues..

Video is output in full 1080i (for my set), and would be 1080p for a compatible display.

I love this machine. If you're not gung-ho for HP, I would recommend it. I have the Qosmio F45-AV425. However, if the HP has comparable performance, you won't regret the purchase.

Good luck!

BW

what is the native laptop screen resolution - bc on the hp - which i think has better price and reviews from what ive seen - is only 1050....

does your toshiba go to 1080p on the laptop screen?

thx for your input!

Best res is 1280 x 800. Priced out as comparable a system as I could to mine from HP's site, and a similar dv9500t would be about $150-$200 more than I paid. But then, you would get a 17" screen instead of 15.4"...

Outputs at 1920 x 1080 to the HDMI, though. That was my primary goal. Didn't need full 1080 on the laptop, was trying to keep the laptop size and weight down.

so exactly which toshiba line did you get - im with you - i dont need a huge screen - just wanted it mainly to work and then sit on my tv

any compaints - maybe ill go toshiba -

hp just got killed in the latest pcworld customer ratings...
