I called replaytv support at 254-299-2705, and got a lady who told me they are still accepting the one time fee lifetime subscriptions. I asked her if there were previsions in the contract that would allow replaytv to end services. She said lifetime service continued until the replay stopped working and was not transferable to another replaytv. I then pigeonholed her by asking, "so if my replay continues to work 10 years from now service will be provided?" and she said yes that was correct. In another part of the conversation she used the language "as far as I know" though.

I also asked her about converter boxes. She said there weren't supported. I asked if any would be, she didn't know, but she talked about how the software was made over 5 years ago as if it had to be done then. Basically, it sounded like a big No. She also said they don't support the boxes that convert back to analog from digital that are distributed by cable companies who have converted completely to digital.
