Does anyone have a system for translating the channel number (based on cable guide) sent out by the Replay on IR to a different number that is the actual OTA channel and sending that to a tuner? I'm not talking about adding new IR codes. I need channel 2 translated to 35, and 9 to 41, etc then sent to the OTA tuner.
I have a Showstopper 2000. There are about 8 stations in my area. My guide is based on a local cable system which matches some of the OTA channel numbers. (I don't have cable, just use it as the guide.) I get 3 or 4 of the 8 possible channels depending on the cable settings I pick. (I'm counting channels as stations not including subchannels.)
I've seen the Patterson converter but I don't have DirectTV.
I've tried Wirns but for various reasons it doesn't work for me.
The Arduino has IR rx and tx libraries. I'm planning on a Arduino that receives the IR blaster signal from the Replay. This could be IR or a direct connection in place of the optical part. It receives the channnel #, does a lookup table translation, then sends the new number out as IR to the tuner. I could maybe use the serial port but then I'm stuck with DirectTV guide - at least that's how I understand it to work.
I found one guy on line that did this with a PicAxe but he never published the code.
It could be any micro; Arduino, PIC, basic stamp, doesn't matter. I've even looked at using one to take IR to serial, another gets the serial, translates the numbers and sends it to a third to make it IR. I'm basically looking for the shortest/quickest path.
