Time to shut down this forum?

This forum gets almost no new traffic these days. I check in about once a week, and there's usually just 2-3 new posts. Planet Replay gets a little more traffic -- a few posts a day. It seems like having both forums is redundant.

Maybe it's time to shut down this forum. We should probably ask the AVS admins to make it read-only, so that it can serve as an archive. And post a note referring people to Planet Replay for (relatively) active discussions.

Why? There's not a lot of new stuff going on, but there is still traffic and high quality posts.

Please don't shut this forum down as there many useful tips that I see here and not always on Planet Replay. I usually check both forums on a daily basis and both have been really helpful to me and many others.

I find this forum easier to follow than Planet Replay. Here, you have one topic so it's easy to see the new comments. On Planet Replay, there are many topics and you only get to easily see the "Last 7 Active Topics".

Nobody is forcing you to visit, so just mind wipe its url from your memory. The number of resources available for the dedicated ReplayTV user are dwindling fast enough as it is, lets not help the process along anymore.

I took quick look at Planet Replay. Seems a pale imitation. With all the massive about of crap sights on the internet, why would you suggest shutting down a forum which has been, and continues to be, great help to the AVR community. Have stock in Planet Reply do you?

Same here. Still check everyday or at least when my sub sends me updates.

Overall, I like AVS since it is a wealth of info on all my electronics. Makes it easy for me to have it all in one place.

I agree. While I primarily use my HTPC to watch TV these days. I still have 2 Replays up and running and I still check this site almost daily. Unless the overhead to keep it up is significant, I'd sure like to see it stay. I must say, I rarely check PlanetReplay.

Planet Replay is not an imitation, it's a specialized site. While AVS deals with just about every A/V subject imaginable, PR just deals with ReplayTV and specializes in WiRNS, which of course is what's keeping ReplayTV alive even after the DNNA closure.

If you need help with a specific RTV subject, like WiRNS, DVArchive, IVSmagic, etc then PR might be the better place to look as they have dedicated forums for each of them.

Oh hell no!!!

And just FYI, my 15 year old son asked me to hook him up with a walkman cassette player recently, so I found one in the basement and now he uses it every day, lol. And it just happened to have a killer cassette in it too ("Pocket Jukebox" from the NME music paper in the UK).
