Warning Fan Lock Detected 55xx

This is my third unit to have this problem (replaced the other two, one last week). The fan does still run. I'm beginning to suspect this may be a motherboard component age issue. Anyone know anything? Found the Delta AFB0812LB fans at DigiKey. They have 2, 3, and 4 wire models (my ReplayTV has 2 wire) but without connector. Anybody know anything? Is this fixable without throwing away units and trying to buy used replacements?

I don't have a 5000 series, but I don't think it's a 2 wire. If your ReplayTV thinks the fan is not spinning, you need at least 3 wires. ( Power, Ground, speed )

If it's worth doing, it's worth doing in PERL!

The fan may be bad or dirty but I'm guessing this is a power supply problem. Do you also sometimes get the "No Video" blue screen?

If you can solder, it's a pretty simple repair of replacing a 2200uf cap outlined in other threads on this forum.
