Did you just hook up an old Replay unit? Have you set up a channel guide source through LaHo or SD yet?

Later, Rob

Thanks Rob.
Yes I finally cut the cable.
Going to hook my replay up to a "Antenna TV" converter. One of those government subsidized units they made available when the digital switch happened. I guess these boxes are very cheap now and do a lot of replaytv functionality.
Not sure about a channel guide subscription. I get most shows from the Internet, just need local news/sports/weather.
Sure did love my replaytv and miss pausing and instant playback of live tv.
Not sure how much I'll get back into it.
Over the years this forum really helped a lot.

Did you ever get into WiRNS? If you like to tinker and are generally tech savvy, what you should do is set up WiRNS and then get a Schedules Direct subscription, which only costs $25/year and then you'll feed the channel guide to all of your Replays from the PC where you have WiRNS running. It's very cool, even for dead technology, lol.

If the STB that you select doesn't have a code in your Replay, you can add one for it. Just be sure to get one that's compatible in order to be able to watch the sub-channels. Your Replay doesn't know how to send a period, so it doesn't know how to tune to channel 5.1 for example, so you need a box where entering 051 will get you there.

I am using a zenith dtt900 it can be controlled from the replaytv unit. I had the replay fail and cannot get the ir code installed in the replacement. Some how I forgot the secret sauce. I tried the WIRNS method stuffing the code into the photo directory and then the CD method that seeks all the replays out stuffs the codes. It is supposed to be the proxy for the install but I cannot get it to work. Have you found another method?

Try setting DNS to 207.58.129.219 and do a net connect. That will connect to LaHo's "Goodwill" service. It should download all known IR codes to your unit. If it doesn't work, RobMan and Glenn can work on adding it.

After you're done, revert DNS back to normal (pointing to WiRNS).

If it's worth doing, it's worth doing in PERL!
