It wouldnt suprise me to see tivo have a trade in promotion, where you trade in say your 30 hour replaytv, and you would get a free Tivo 30 hour unit, and get a $99 lifetime fee price.

who would do this out of you guys?

And even then they'd have to dig me up to get at it! http://www.avsforum.com/ubb/wink.gif

Ugh! This is getting to be a theme with me.

I think I am going to lock myself in a room with my PowerComputing Mac Clone, yy Apple Newton and my ReplayTV. I am afraid to buy anything else, for fear it will be discontinued. http://www.avsforum.com/ubb/smile.gif

I'll trade in for a TiVo when....

1. Replay has offically died, dead, caputt, not coming back, history!

... and ...

2. It looks like the hackers are not making any progress in getting us service from somewhere!

In the meantime, you can put out all the press releases and "doom and gloom" reports you like, as long as I've got service, I'm keeping both my Replays.

Loren:

Were you interviewed about the Newton and Mac clone, too? If so, I think it's time to revoke your 'press pass.' http://www.avsforum.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Videogame systems are different (IMO) than this situation with Replay. When one buys a vg system, he knows it will only be supported for only so long. Will it be 3, 4 or 5 years. Most of the time, these $200-$300 units last about five years before the next generation hardware comes out.

My 30hr Showstopper cost me $550 (after tax and rebate) only 2 months ago and I bought the thing to last for a long, long time. I only hope it will.

LOL. While I have done a lot of loud public advocacy of the Newton, I never got nearly as much press. http://www.avsforum.com/ubb/wink.gif

I'm not interested in trading for a Tivo at this time either. I hope ReplayTV keeps going until DVRs cost 200 or less like VCRs. Imagine what the hard drives will be like at that time, also!

You're not alone. If you need me, I'll be thinking about the Coleco Adam and Sega Saturn I used to own, and the Nintendo 64 I do own. Did I mention I prefer Pepsi over Coke? http://www.avsforum.com/ubb/smile.gif

*****Daniel, suprised the Sega Dreamcast has done as well as it has considering I own one
