DONATION INFO: HERE

DONATE HERE

LIST OF PEOPLE KIND ENOUGH TO DONATE HERE

WARNING: BEFORE REPORTING BUGS MAKE SURE THAT YOUR GuideServer.conf IS RIGHT. ADDITIONALLY SOME PEOPLE HAVE FOUND PROBLEMS IF YOU'RE RUNNING A PROXY/FILTER SERVER (ie: Norton Internet Security) ON THE SAME COMPUTER AS WIRNS. IT (EVILLY) HIJACKS SOME PACKETS AND MODIFIES THEM.

CHANGELOG

1.0.26:
- Fixed some transaction problems in the importer, much faster now.

1.0.25:
- Fixed poopli support, I can't type.
- Fixed bunch of ToDo/Guide bugs for people who get channels remapped >1000

1.0.24:
- 1st gen poopli support (To Disable remove the DoPoopli.conf file)
- Thanks arch!

1.0.23:
- Initial limited 4000 remote scheduling support (extended options aren't available yet, but it should work)
- Warning, had to change GuideServer.conf format again for 4000 people, update your confs!

1.0.22:
- Bugfix release

1.0.21 build 2751:
- Rewrote some database classes and handlers to fix the Exception that some people are getting on the todo list. Only people getting that exception should run this build. Please let me know if it works.

1.0.21:
- Fixed bug while updating
- Added BigJohns logos.
- Updated GuideServer.conf for theme support

1.0.20:
- Fixed the object ex bug in ToDo (I hope)
- added theme parsing for title/description themes. (I need some graphics please)

1.0.19:
- Fixed some conflict winner detection bugs, should be right now.
- Other minor bugs

1.0.18:
- Fixed some ToDo bugs with back to back shows
- Fixed some ToDo bugs with the popup
- Fixed some other guideparser bugs
- Fixed "space in replayname" bug
- OUTSTANDING: The conflict winner detection algo is broken, dont fully trust it, check your replay until this is resolved.

1.0.17:
- serial control enabled for all wirns served providers
- fixed some bugs with single dot recordings in the guide.. they appear right now

1.0.16:
- fixed some search bugs
- added some todo features (search for replacements for conflicts/etc)
- added some popup descriptives in todo list
- fixed some sql issues
- OUTSTANDING BUG: There is a minor memory leak somewhere.. I'm trying to track it down.

1.0.15:
- fixed some version reporting errors
- fixed some guideparser bugs
- added tivo style todo list with conflict detection (note; it doesn't handle theme/zone channels yet)
- cosmetic changes
- database schema updates (if you have a chance, delete and recreate your database, lots of things will go faster, its not required tho)

1.0.14:
- lots of new search options in the guide

1.0.13:
- initial zones functionaily. More!More!More! should be working

1.0.12:
- completely rewrite the webserver component, its much more effective now, and successfully handled processing my 20meg syslog (which even the replay servers wouldn't)
- fixed the putxact bug once and for all and started reverse engineering the my.replaytv.com protocol to determine how we can remote schedule for 4000.
- rewrote the connection handler
- on my end the "stuck at 92%" bug is fixed. please report.

1.0.11:
- putxact had another restricted header.. should be fixed now.

1.0.10:
- Win98 NoService Fix
- Attempt putxact.pl myrptv fix

1.0.9:
- PPVs? According to DNNA we dont need no PPVs. According to me we do, first release with DISH Network PPV support.
- Another crack at the sort issue.

1.0.8:
- Fixed channel sort issue introduced in v1.0.2
- Fixed 4000 guide dot issue.

1.0.7:
- Fixed bug trying the schedule shows with ' or & in the name.
- Fixed bug parsing the GuideServer.conf file (spaces in names should work now)

1.0.6:
- Fixed some guideparser bugs. It should detect the guide version now, and recover gracefully from poor guideentries that the replay reports (still trying to figure out how this can happen, be patient, it will work around for now and parse what it can).

1.0.5:
- Fixed a bug introducted trying to create new lineups.

1.0.4:
- Fixed major bug with SQLite that was preventing proper guide updates in some cases.
- Fixed "Zad" bug

1.0.3:
- Fixed bug scheduling from the guide
- Fixed bug chaning days in the guide.

1.0.2:
- Fixed some bugs all over the place (Zad's is still outstanding)
- Added GuideServer.dll
GuideServer should be considered untested and unsupported; go to 7.0.0.1:8923/manage/GuideServer to play with it. Edit the GuideServer.conf to reflect your environment.

1.0.1:

- Added guide update timer, it'll auto update every 24hrs
- Fixed the No Info Available bug (I think)
- Fixed the cable differentiation thingy Zad needed.

Welp, its been a long time, and some of you have been waiting patiently, so here is WiRNS 1.0.0 Sneak-Peak PreAlpha release.

The "bells and whistles" have been stripped out of this release (none of the new features) but this should be a fairly complete replacement for your existing setup which should be:

A) Much less taxing on CPU/computer resources
B) Much easier to maintain.
C) Pretty darn snifty if you ask me.

REQUIREMENTS;

1. .NET Framework v1.1
2. Coffee
3. Beer (if you're a non drinker you can send directly to me)

NOTE: All the other stuff from the old wirns isn't required anymore (xmltv, odbc.net, sqliteodbc, dont need any of it).

INSTALLTION:

*NOTE*: Due to the nature of this release, I'm not writing any docs, and will be providing minimal support as the codebase is a moving target currently.

1. Get an account on http://labs.zap2it.com/ Use this certificate code: DQYN-JQ2N-IBUT
2. Setup your zap2it labs account (add all your lineups)
3. Unzip wirns to wherever.
4. Run wirns -server.
5. Open a web browser and go to http://127.0.0.1:8923/
6. Click on configuration
6a. Go to the wirns window and stop it (CTRL-C works fine) and restart it.
7. Fill out the form and hit submit
8. Hit Guide update
9. Hit refresh on your browser after about 10 minutes to see if it says: "IDLE", if its still updating the guide, try in another couple minutes.
10. Change the zipcode on your replay to something else in your zipcode to make it redownload headends.
11. Pick your provider
12. Watch TV.

This version should also fix the "holes in the guide" bug thats been plaguing us for a while, and also incorporates j.m.'s fix.

-kjac

NOTE: THIS VERSION WILL NOT WORK WITH j.m.'s GetShellCommands.dll, THE PLUGIN FORMAT HAS CHANGED SLIGHTLY AND HE'LL NEED TO UPDATE IT WHEN THE NEW FORMAT IS FINALIZED.

Can't wait to check it out... have to wait til I'm on the right PC!

Any chance you've been talking with tedkunich about getting his stuff working with this? I'm hoping for the sports and PPV on directv like the stuff like you've been doing for dish.

Kjac,

Seems to be running OK. Installation was a snap.

There are quite a few Information Not Available's from the BEV listings, but that may clear up after a daily DL or two.

Great Deal

I have full info for *C, were there any errors in the guide update? Rerun the guide update do a 243-Zones and try it again.

How many channels are hosed up? 10%? 5%? 50%?

I forgot to mention one other thing, this version is IVS friendly. I've received a couple shows from poopli without any problems. (Normal IVS stuff applies, make sure the port is forwarded to your replay, etc etc)

Log looks fine, for the ones with "no info", did you add those channels to your DataDirect account? Did you change the zipcode over and back when you updated to the new version of wirns? (Some TMSIDs might have changed).

Its up here, maybe you have a router down somewhere? You just go, click the new user sign-up, fill out the form, and use the CERT code I provided.

This is great news!

I presume update has to be run from time to time? How can it be automated as a scheduled task?

lonetree,

The final version will actually install as a windows service after configuration. For now, the only way to update is to click Update Guide on the web interface. (This is a prealpha to give you guys a break from xmltv and wonkyness there, and to test the interface out)

Yep. I went back to the zap2it labs page and edited a few and resaved to make sure they 'took'. I done a 243-Zones to clear the channel guide, and have changed the zip codes. I think next, I'll change to another Canadian postal code just to check that.

First I've tried it [encouraged by the direct data from zap2it], but I must be doing something wrong.

First, I had to create a 'Plugins' directory in the install location [otherwise, the server wouldn't start -- 'directory not found exception, could not find part of the path "C:\\Wirns\\Plugins"'].

But when I try to connect to the server from IE, it just loops forever with the blinking message "Redirecting to server manager. Please Wait'. [I even tried an old copy of Netscape and got the same thing.]

Log file sample looks clean [to me]:

[2004-02-29 22:52:24] WiRNS v1.0.0 - (c) 2004 kjac
[2004-02-29 22:52:24] Thanks: ijprest, waynethedvrguy, Remmer99, gduprey, LeeThompson, j.m. and all the other Replay Hackers out there.
[2004-02-29 22:52:24] Initializing.
[2004-02-29 22:52:24] Cleaning up database.
[2004-02-29 22:52:24] Vacuuming database
[2004-02-29 22:52:25] Detected that I'm running from command line.
[2004-02-29 22:52:25] Loading configuration
[2004-02-29 22:52:25] Starting configuration server on 127.0.0.1:8923
[2004-02-29 22:52:25] Loading server plugins.
[2004-02-29 22:52:25] Replay Network Server Emulation started.

Was there something else I needed to install/setup or some different place where I should have unzipped it?

You didn't unzip it properly (the zip has a plugins folder in it, with a bunch of files in it, that you _NEED_)

Been out of town this past week on business.

kjac, my parser code works on a month basis (put in a month and it grabs the data and generates an XML file. I still need to massage the code to grab data across month boundaries. How far in advance is the new code getting data for?

I hope to get things worked out towards the end of this week or early next week - going to be burning the midnight oil at work to get a project out for the next couple of days.

ted,

WiRNS gets 12-13 days of guide data, just like replay.

I've been trying to figure out how to send you beer without violating your privacy by asking for your address.

Kjac,

I must first say, you are doing an awesome job with this product. I much prefer this new method of setup without the need for xmltv.

Here are the items that would need to be addressed:
1. My "Rogers Cable Inc." listing is missing giude info for about half the channels. This is better than before as wirns 0.7 stopped giving me anything but a few scattered programs every few days. The missing channels are selected on the zap2it guide screen.
BTW, my DirecTV listing is not showing any missing info for the 13 days.
2. I use both direct cable feed as well as digital cable. They show up on zap2it as "Rogers Cable Inc. - Richmond Hill" for analog and "Rogers Cable Inc. - Richmond Hill - Digital" for digital. But when they get downloaded to the WiRNS server, they are both "Rogers Cable Inc.". Thus I only get the guide for the analog source not matter which one I choose.
I will try to remove the analog source from zap2it and see what appears tonight. It looks like WiRNS is a little confused on the apparent duplicate provider.
3. Is serial cable control of RCA Sat boxes now supported?

When I try to run Wirns.exe it gets to the loading configuration part and then I get a windows error asking me to initialize something as a Service (it doesn't specify what).....Any suggestions?

Btw, I have 0.7a running fine.....

Kjac has the steps to setup WiRNS on page 1.

And "Yes", the setup is now quite simple. But it is more involved then just that one command :)

Yeah, I know there are other steps.....I guess my problem is that I assumed you could initiliase this version the same way as the old by just double-clicking the wirns executable file.....But you are saying I need to start it using the wirns -server command now, right?

Correct. "wirns.exe -server" and you'll be up and running.
