I'm trying to rip a cassette tape to my pc. I do it all the time, but this tape is being stupid.
The boombox tape player i'm using won't turn the reels of the tape. It stops a second after i push play. The tape is just old, and it barely rewinds and fast forwards. At first it kind of played, and rewinding was easier, but now it's gotten worse. (and yes i have rewound the entire tape to try and loosen it up or something, manually, and with the player).
I have ideas on what i can do, but has anyone heard of a way to fix this? I can't seem to find anything on google. Thanks.

You might try this if you are handy...

Buy a high-quality blank cassette. Open it up with a tiny screwdriver and remove the tape reels and discard. Open up the defective cassette (you may need to carefully break it open if it is glued) and transfer the reels from the defective cassette to the new shell.
