My neighbor an elderly woman is addicted to her circa 2002 Sony TV (HD capable) because of its Pic in Pic capability. That can only happen through the VHF/UHF in. It puts like 8 little channels on the screen. Obviously now that cable has digitized everything comes in on channel 3 and no more pic in a pic. She is destitute. Does anyone know if a device is made that can take digital cable channels and convert then 1 to 1 back to VHF ? She has the money for a device like this. ie Cable channel 6 is mapped to VHF channel 6....I am sure it is impossible but I thought I would ask.
She's "destitute" yet "She has the money for a device."
Simple. Get eight Digital to Analog tuners, then all the outputs connected to a RF multiplexer (this item will be somewhat costly since not intended for home use). Output of mux to TV.
About the only way you can accomplish that would be, as MrBobb suggested, 8 STBs and a couple of 4-channel moodulators (or 3 3-channel ones). For everything, though, you're looking at a price tag of $600 or so. Not to mention the headache of 8 converter boxes.
