I have just purchased an Opera Consonance power conditioner/surge protector for my main 2 channel/ht system and it has cleaned up both the audio and video in my system. The audio seems to be a little more detailed and transparent with better signal to noise. The video projected on my 92" screen also seems to have a little less noise (sharper edges). The power filter hasn't choked the sound of my amps any so dynamics have been retained. I am very happy so far with the purchase and I feel better that there is surge protection as well. And the orange meter in the middle looks cool.smile.gif

Thanks. Yes, they are Acoustat 2+2. I got lucky when I bought them as there is less than 1/2" of clearance with the ceiling. I did measure before I bought them and knew that it would be close but not that close.rolleyes.gif

I had a pr of what I think were Acoustat- X with direct drive otl servo- tube amps-I can't recall exactly if they were tube amps or no-that I thought were great.
They appear to possibly to still be in business http://www.acoustat.eu/
I have no idea if Jim Strickland is involved or where he is or even if he is still alive.

I recall them looking like these

Those look like the Monitor X Acoustats. They came with either the OTL tube amps or the interfaces that needed a separate amp. I have never heard them but from what I have read they sound very good with excellent imaging.

The link you provided is interesting as I did not think they were still in business. I don't speak German but the flag ship model appears to be the Chinese made version, the last ones I know of that produced Acoustats. At 50,000 euros I don't think too many were made. These may be NOS speakers from China. I'm not knocking China, that is just the last place I know of that made them. But if they are now being made in Germany again, right on!
