Looking for Power Center/Surge Protector/UPS Recommendations

Greetings. I'm currently using a Belkin PureAV power center in my modest home theater. It's served me pretty well for the past 5 years, but in the last 6 months two of the outlet banks have failed and I'm ready to replace it with something different without breaking the bank. My system consists of a LG OLED65E6P display, a Denon AVR-X4200W AVR, an Oppo UDP-203 4K player, an Amazon FireTV box, a Raspberry Pi, a gigabit ethernet switch and a D-Link wifi bridge.

I'm naturally drawn to a similar component to the Belkin, i.e. something that sits in my rack, but not married to it. If there's some sort of surge protector or UPS solution that's better or comparable I'd be on-board. I've been looking at some of the Panamax products, such as the M5300-EX and the MR4300, but they seem to be overpriced for what they do.

What are you all using and why? Any input is greatly appreciated!

I use a UPS. Mainly so my PJ can have battery backup if I ever needed to shut it down safely under a power outage. PJ's need to run the fan for a while to cool down the bulb. Plus my internet hardware is in the same location so as a bonus I get battery backup on that as well.

I also prefer a UPS because at work we have used them at MANY sites that are subject to lightning strikes and a UPS for whatever reason, will die but protect the equipment that's plugged into it. I can't count how many times this has occured. So that's my unscientific reasoning behind it.

I once used 3 power surge strips to make a long extension cord and we took a nearby lightning strike that destroyed the first 2 in the chain and the 3rd one stopped the strike from hitting the tv. So I am leary at the effectiveness of these things anyways.

Here's the UPS I've been using for the last couple years.

Thanks for the info. What equipment do you have lugged into your UPS?

On the battery backup side I use a JVC RS1 PJ and my internet equipment. On the none battery side I have an Emotiva 5 channel amp, Marantz receiver, and an Oppo Bluray player. Basically everything minus the sub which is on another circuit. I do use a basic surge suppressor for the SVS sub.

I live in lightning country and have never had a problem. In fact, my next door neighbors house took a direct strike a couple years ago and the surge followed the utility line over to my house and destroyed my chain of smoke detectors of all things. My theater hardware was spared luckily.

But honestly, electricity will go where it wants, your only real defense is home insurance.

You are absolutely correct about the electricity and insurance thing. All we can do is try to mitigate the lesser issues as best we can. Thanks again for the replies.

It is! One of my favorite films too.

"I'm the Dude. So that's what you call me. That, or Duder, His Dudeness, or El Duderino, if, you know, you're not into the whole brevity thing."

Awesome, I love that movie too. We use some networking software to monitor various things at work and the company that designed the software named it "The Dude".
