Thanks for the info. I don't have set anymore but I do have a soft spot for them still. When I first had the older unmodified set I found them to be flat and dull sounding. Then I got the new ones and found them much inproved in that regard but overall much to bright/harsh in the treble, LOL.
I never did do your crossover upgrade though, I have no speaker building skills or soldering skills to speak of. Still curious though.....
One of the tweeters in my AV21s went bad, not sure how this happened as I never played them very loud, but it clearly happened. I confirmed that indeed it is a bad tweeter because I swapped speakers, then tweeters and isolated the problem to the tweeter.
Does anyone know what tweeter this might be or where to get a replacement?
Just to follow up, I tried to contact master-vox.com to ask them if I could order a replacement tweeter and after not hearing back for about a month I guess, I emailed the US dealer for Omage. Apparently the US rep got a call from Mastervox that same day and he gave me a call. He verified my address and then when I asked him what I owed him he said nothing, since they are under warranty. I am quite happy with this service! I guess after years of dealing with the typically mass market companies I didn't expect actually good customer service. Way to go Omage!
A heads up for this old thread......A new set of Omage has appeared on Master-vox.com, this time triumph series and the bookshelf at a astonishly low $90 Canadian.....almost ordered a set.....
33lbs a pair....a fairly large......weight implies build quality higher than the price for sure.
