Barnes & Noble shares they have signed content license agreements with NBC Universal and 20th Century Fox for its upcoming Nook Video platform.

Nook Video, which includes transactional video-on-demand and electronic sellthrough (but no subscription VOD), will be included with B&N’s Nook HD and Nook HD+ tablets featuring UltraViolet compatibility and 7-inch and 9-inch screens slated to begin shipping this week.

Nook Video allows customers to shop for new releases, major box office titles, television series, and classics for streaming or download. The new content agreements include Snow White and the Huntsmen, Battleship, Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax, Ice Age: Continental Drift, Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days, among others.

Nook's VP & GM Jonathan Shar says:
“Nook Video is one of the most exciting new offerings for customers to enjoy on new Nook devices when they arrive this month,”

Along with purchasing movies and TV shows through Nook Video, customers can shop for UltraViolet-enabled DVDs and Blu-rays for their digital collection, and instantly watch them from the Nook Cloud:
“Quality, access and convenience are quickly becoming synonymous with digital ownership and the market is exploding,” said Mike Dunn, president, worldwide, 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment. “The ability to access digital HD movies from Fox through Nook Video complements our existing strategy of delivering the best entertainment experience to consumers and to enrich digital ownership.”

Sounds like they are trying to get all their ducks in a row.
