From High Resolution Technologies - a company that specializes in high-fidelity DACs - comes a new, compact high-performance speaker system. Each speaker features three 3.5" aluminum mini-woofers and a 1" cloth dome tweeter. The 'Stage' speakers can be used as either desktop speakers, or as compact 'mains'. With bass performance down only 3db at 35hz, they don't need a subwoofer to rock the house. The system consists of the speaker pair plus a separate box that houses the DAC, preamp and amp (70 watts/ch). HRT designed and built the entire system in-house, including all the speaker driver components. The price is set at $999.
The bass drivers (yes, lets call them bass drivers and not midrange drivers) feature massive magnet structures equal to the the size of the cone itself which is no doubt required to handle the demands placed on them. HRT have designed every single aspect of the speaker right down to the voice coils and spider, all in house and they are preparing to lift the roof on expectations both sonically and from a cost perspective

"Blue" and "Air" has become our notebook slang for products including both Bluetooth and AirPlay wireless capability. There are quite a few of them at this CES. HRT, a new company, features them in the Stage speakers, with analog amplification, preamp, and USB DAC built into a separate module.
