Nvidia's 'Project Shield' is still a bit of an enigma - who will buy it, how will it be used, what will it cost? The new Android-powered device claims to do it all - it's a 5" OLED Android tablet and portable video game console - is it fair to call it a portable 'Steam Box'? It is a multimedia streaming entertainment hub that can deliver video games and 4K video - through HDMI or wireless - all day long without needing a charge. The main issue - to play streaming PC games requires a Nvidia GeForce GTX to be installed on a PC.
The real test was seeing how Project Shield handled moving PC content to a TV.... the fact that there's a device that can even move that many pixels among three devices, wired or wireless, is astonishing.

Ee are back to a different iteration of the much-ballyhooed Steam Console, but as a thin, quiet, ARM-architecture device rather than an X86-architecture variation on the living-room PC
The Shield is designed to be as small as possible, so it’s roughly the size of standalone controllers. NVIDIA Shield features a 5-inch, 1,280 x 720 multitouch display that is said to be a 'Retina Display' for stunning visuals. The Tegra 4 powered device has several batteries for a combined 38 watt hours of battery power, which NVIDIA says is good for for up to 24 hours of high definition video playback. NVIDIA CEO Jen-sun Huang showed off what he believes is the first 4K video coming off a mobile device.
