It's a TV fit for a Bond villain, or for watching Skyfall in the back yard of your palace. If cost is truly no object this 1.4 ton beauty can be yours for a mere $687,775. When the weather cooperates, you can marvel as it expands out of its underground bunker, like a satellite unfolding solar panels.

The Red Dot "Best of the Best 2012" design award winner, the C SEED 201 is billed by Porsche Design Studio as the “world’s largest television.” It is certainly the one that makes the most dramatic entrance.

In its July 2011 issue, Wallpaper* magazine reported the price of the C SEED 201 at €500,000 (or $687,775 U.S.). It also reported that at least 50 units of the handmade product are already pre-ordered.

Sorry, Jumped the gun. The TV was so overwhelming, I failed to see the numbers.

I did have to dig around to find the price, because I'm one of those people who 'has to ask' (sadly)

That is quite impressive.

At that price though you can probably build yourself a sweet outdoor theatre by the pool for a lot less money. It almost seems a little commercial.

If money wasn't an option, I'd still probably get one smile.gif

Then, three years later when 8k comes around, you get to do the biggest facepalm ever.

I bet they'll have an upgrade option for the panels - this thing begs for an OLED makeover. What's being sold is the robotic TV stand with integrated sound, the actual display is the same you'll find at a sports venue, and it's not even full 720P much less 1080P or 4K. It's amazing they call it a 'retina' display. "Each of the over 725,000 LEDs processes image data up to 100,000 times per second" - 720P requires 921,600 pixels. It's still a really, really cool 'sky's the limit' concept, but also ridiculous and already outdated.

I hope that thing has height adjustment or tilt, b/c it's way too high, and the picture seems very dim for an outside set. As far as I can tell, the best things about the advertisement are the house, the car, and the model.

It seems perfect for an outdoor swimming pool. I wouldn't mind catching a game while floating around, Margarita in hand. I bet these things show up in Vegas.

Wow! New breakthrough in semiconductors: image processing LEDs! BTW, it requires 1,036,800 LEDs to display 720P (720*480*3)

I'm glad it's only $687,775, because $688,000 was just two hundred bucks out of my price range. rolleyes.gif

I'm gunna have to say it... Even if I had the money to toss, I would still be demanding 4k at that price (or any price over $50k). No really. Maybe I'm too much of a quality snob.

You can see the seams, it doesn't look very bright, it seems to have poor resolution and I wonder what happens to it when rainwater falls into the ground. And how often does one have the need to watch TV outside?

I bet the fool that buys this also complains that his taxes are too high.

But I also bet that it does become a prop in some movie - either a Bond villain or a drug lord or whatever. It has all the elegance of an electronic billboard. Would you like one of those in your backyard?
