Wolf Cinema announced at this years CES 2013 show two new projectors. The model SDC-8, also known as the GRAYWOLF and the model SDC-12, called GRAYWOLF 4K are suited more for screens up to 11' wide.
Quote:
Suitable for home theater screens up to 11' wide, these two home cinema projectors deliver all the 2D and 3D viewing expected from Wolf Cinema, but at more affordable retail prices. The SDC-8 includes a next generation three-chip, D-ILA light engine for 1080p viewing, while the SDC-12 adds Wolf's V4KTM technology to deliver enhanced 3840 x 2160 on-screen imaging from all standard video sources.
Quote:
Each hand-calibrated GRAYWOLF projector is delivered with Wolf's SD/HD video processing algorithms.
Quote:
A new, user-replaceable 230W NSH lamp is included which can deliver between 3000 to 4000 hours of viewing enjoyment.

Both models release in January 2013 at prices of $8,000.00 (model SDC-8) and $12,000 (model SDC-12)

At this price point, it puts into question most UHD display's announced at CES this year with an average price tag of $12K for an average size screen. This (in mu opinion) becomes a more interesting solution for anybody looking to get into Ultra-High Definition.

What do you think?

Immediate question is; What is "Wolf's V4KTM technology"? Is that a renaming of JVCs e-shift? Aka, "fake 4K".

They discuss the fact that the technology comes from JVC in the product literature, and clearly borrow from the JVC reference projectors. So yeah e-shift & all that is part of the package. Seems their whole deal is promoting the upgraded lamp, lens, and chassis. They are based on these: http://pro.jvc.com/prof/attributes/category.jsp?productId=PRO6.1
