Just when you thought Black Friday was the time to catch a deal on an HDTV, statistics actually show the deals are better for HDTVs just before the Superbowl. All the big names have weekly ads promoting deals. Here's a list showing off some of the highlighted ones:

I have to agree with you-- this is the best time to buy a replacement/new HDTV. Here is a weird thing that just happened to me.. was ready to hit the "Place Order" button on Amazon but decided to wait overnight (it was getting late). I got up early to finish up my order business and there it was a $200 INCREASE! I shot an email to them and hours later they confirmed it was an accurate jump in price (Panasonic plasma btw). I went to other website and there it was again an increase in pricing! How is this possible? Any ideas/suggestions?

I see no deals on the best (Panasonic plasma) HDTVs. The ST50 is fluctuating as normal at Amazon, Best Buy, NFM and the VT50 isn't really moving at all.

That's Amazon for you. I've seen large price jumps preceding big drops in price. For example, prices in early November, leading up to Black Friday are frequently higher than they are in late October.

My experience: It's a great time to buy a -MASS MARKET- HDTV. It's not necessarily a great time to buy a top end HDTV.

I find two weeks after the Superbowl is the best time to buy up any 2012 stock left over cause they just want to move it and if you walk in with cash then your out the door with the panel

Prices on Amazon can fluctuate depending on who is actually selling the TV. Amazon usually has the lowest price, but if they run out of their own stock it will be another reseller and their pricing could be different. I bought the Samsung 60" 7100 LED TV the other day (actually the 7150 from Costco) and I had been watching the prices on Amazon change almost daily. There is currently a $1,400 instant rebate on this particular TV that ends on 2/3.
