Not drinking the CNET hater-ade but as a marketer for a small, audio company, I couldn't get arrested on CNET. They refused to even consider reviewing any of our products. I found the better credibility comes from AVS and other forum reviewers with no corporate strings attached.

I agree...but knowledgeable people who also have new corporate bosses. Revision3 was acquired by Discovery media last year. http://www.tubefilter.com/2012/05/03/revision3-ceo-discovery-acquired-interview

After I listened to CNET's outstanding review of the Mitsu WD-52525 DLP set, I never listened to them again. Unit was the biggest piece of $*** I owned.

It goes wo/saying that paying attention to one reviewer of anything is not good. CNETs reviews are often so abridged as to be not useful anyway. The bad thing is CBS won't air it censorship in public after this. The 'taint is now everything CNET does will be subject to the "it's going upstairs" treatment before publishing... and who would trust that kind of outfit, regardless of intent? Read everything avilable, read user comments everywhere you can (esp. here) and wait for the dust to settle a while on something before even thinking about a purchase ... or at least that's what I try to do.

Couldnt have happened to a better company if you ask me. I always questioned their reviews and always said they favored certain manufactures over others. So again I aint feeling sorry for them at all and its about time something like this happened. For those still going to Cnet to read their so called "Great Reviews" I would go some where else because you can get trust worthy reviews from alot of other sites other then Cnet who in my book are biased in their reviews in so many ways.

As I've said before all this went down, I never was all that impressed by their reviews. Not hating them, just saying...

If you want the straight poop on a given TV, I can't think of a better place to go than here. Taken in the aggregate, AVS members' opinions are about as objective as you'll get.

It's not CBS at fault here, but Viacom, which owns the CBS network, Comedy Central, CNET, Paramount Pictures, and many, many other media holdings.

When any corporate entity holds the reigns of the Fourth Estate... that's bad news for everyone. The biggest example is News Corp. and Rupert Murdoch. But there are many other conflicts of interest by this horrible intertwining of the free press and big moneyed players.

As one billionaire put it: democracy isn't good for business.

CNET staffers need to start their own independent site.

Listen up, studios! Just say "NO" to DNR and EE!!

Because the companies behind the media groups get cozy with Apple to get commercial revenue. Money talks.

Seriously, why not have a panel of judges that run/are experts from the major blogs like AVSForum and others. CNET can still participate and have a voice as one of 5 judges.

When it happened a few years ago, I knew that having CBS purchase CNET would blow up as a huge mistake.

The corporate takeover of all things media has been a disaster all around. Another example is corporate ownership of news media in general.

I still visit CNET, but there needs to be a new independent review site.

I wish that AVS Forum could do what CNET does in some way. I trust this site and the opinions of the established long time participants of the site.

I stopped trusting CNET reviews more than 2 years ago because i realize there was a lot of bias in their reviews
