That is pretty cool your drive in shows those films! I wasn't around in 1974 so it would be sweet to see Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Psycho in a drive in!

Same here! I think seeing TCM @ a drive-in will be the ultimate experience. Never thought I'd ever get the chance. smile.gif

I'm proud to say that I live less than 2 miles away from the http://www.49erdrivein.com/. They just got their digital upgrade.
We love going there, and the food prices are not too bad, they often have double features for the price of one. smile.gif

I love Becky's Drive in Its just north of Allentown Pa, it has the friendliest staff great food and new digital projectors showing double features of first run movies for $9. I found it about 5 years ago and me and my wife go every year. I love the drive in experience, a cold chill in the air as you get close to the one you love near you while watching pictures entertain on a huge screen under the stars. Nothing can be better for a late summer night. Long live the drive in.

Sweet! I love seeing this thread bumped. You really can't beat it. I just put in a vacation day next month so I could check out the Delsea Drive In on June 11th. Like Ryan said: Long live the drive in. smile.gif

My son went to our local drive-in that just converted. He said it was like watching my 73" TV from our couch. That is a big improvement over how it used to look- brighter with more contrast for one reason. I wonder if they got 4K projectors? 2K is probably good enough for a drive-in.

Congratulations.

Of course, now it's on to step 2: raise money for a decent website that looks like it's from this decade, too.

Just hit the drive-in two nights ago. There is DEFINITELY tailgating before the feature.biggrin.gif They played 50's music on the FM channel until the movie started. I saw Star Wars IV (New Hope) and Jaws 1 as the double feature when I was a kid "back in the day". Didn't seem like a big deal then... :-)

I must say though, that with NATO involved, it all seems more serious. I never realized the geo-political implications of cinema in my car smile.gifsmile.gifsmile.gif

PS: Paid $26 for a family of six to see Despicable Me 2 and Epic. Thats somewhere around 2 bucks per person per flick. I don't think the Warsaw Pact can beat that... biggrin.gif

I took the family to our drive-in for Monsters University a couple of weeks ago. I must say I didn't expect that big of a crowd but the place was sold out by the time the movie started. My kids are young so they enjoyed staying up, eating popcorn and somewhat watching the movie. For me the place was pretty cool and it brought back memories of the drive-ins when I lived in SoCal. Food was great and reasonably priced, I would definitely check out this drive in again.
