Your smartphone can double as a variety of devices or remotes. You can now add a controller for your JVC projector to that list. JVC has announced an iOS app to control your JVC projector over IP. Unfortunately, at the moment, this app isn't available for Android OS. The App can be used with the following JVC projectors; DLA-RS46, DLA-RS48, DLA-RS4810, DLA-RS56, and DLA-RS66. You will need iOS 5.1 and an iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPod touch (3rd, 4th, and 5th generation) or iPad (3rd generation). The JVC projector must be connected to the network via wired LAN to work. The app will allow for more than basic control over the projector. You will be able to calibrate the projector through its deep menu adjustments.
The App is available now through the App Store.
This should be a fairly useful app for those who don't own a universal remote and have an issue sometimes with the IR receiver if the projector is particularly far away or is in a hushbox, for example. The use of control over IP is much more reliable. Hopefully JVC will port over an Android version soon to help spread IP control to a wider market.
