It would depend on the screen's gain. What is the 177" screen's gain? There is no set screen size for a given lumen output. But 177" is rather huge even if a diagonal measurement.

Also the 1000's rating shows only 17% more brightness, hardly enough to take you from 120" to 177" while providing the same on-screen brightness. While lumen ratings are universally suspect I guess it's useful to compare one manufacturer's specs withing a model line. At least I hope it would be useful!

I think 177" would be a stretch even with the 1000. Do we even know its real-world calibrated output yet?

Sony is basing it on Stewart Studiotek 130 with 1.1 gain

Yes, the presenter said it was a Stewart Studiotek 130 screen.

I saw Sony's new $15k 4096 x 2160p projector today at Sony's CEDIA booth and although the demo was very good I thought the black level and motion resolution was not as great as I expected it to be.  Anyone else notice this?

Thanks,  Stap

1700 lumens on the cheap!

It's back!! Wine of the Week! Clos Martinet Tinto, Priorat DOCa, Spain ~$60. If you've not had a good Priorat, you've not truly tried Spain's smallest, yet most unique terroir.

I thought the blacks were good but not great.

Can someone attending CEDIA 2013 find out what the fate of the VPL-VW95ES is? I was hoping for a replacement for that one to be announced also, but looks like no luck. Will it stay in the lineup for now? I hope so as it is the "entry level" model for those of us who want powered zoom lens memory.

They are only showing the 55, 600, and 1100. It will either be a carry over or is retired. I was in the same boat and hoped they would just up the lumens.

I agree with the other posters above regarding the new US Sony Model 600ES. On the up scaled 1080P of the 4K Master of Spiderman, I clearly observed Motion jutter during the movements of players on the Basketball court. Not what I expected.

I clearly observed the effects of a high shutter speed and 24p. I think that scene might have been reproduced a bit too faithfully, actually.

imagic,

Thanks for the info. I never gave that a thought. I certainly would hope that's all it was. I agree the 4K part of the Demo was great and brightness on that size screen was impressive.
